You’ll find book design resources that can help you go through the self-publishing process with ease. Every month, I’m hosting The Indie Book Lab – free monthly workshops on the art, strategy, and design of self-publishing for writers ready to give their books wings. I’ve also written a guide on book design, so feel free to snag it! You’ll also find a growing list of professionals in the self-publishing world that I’ve worked with and highly recommend. I’m also linking some self-publishing online resources and printers. If you’d like to explore my services, check out the Book Cover Design, Book Interior Design, Book Cover Audit or Book Marketing Design.

More book design resources:

Book professionals

  • Pia Edberg – an amazing intuitive book doula working with self-publishing authors in the spiritual, self-help and business genres. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Pia many times and designing books for her clients. I’m highly recommending Pia and her programs if you’re writing in one of the mentioned genres.
  • Beacon Point – Katie is a great editor and has a thing for teaching, so her services come with lots of great advice and resources. For the latter, visit the hub on her website – a real mine of author information!
  • Book Blurb Magic – Jessie writes book blurbs for a living. Only blurbs! This means she is highly specialised and can nail down any blurb, so it’ll help you sell the book! I’ve worked on many covers with Jessie’s blurb, and she’s the best!
  • Arvorei Communications – Arvorei can tackle any translation! If you’re considering translating your book into other languages, they’re your best bet! I collaborate with Arvorei whenever they need design support. I’ve known Kim, the CEO, for a few years now, and her dedication to each project is like no other!
  • Worthy Writers – Kirsten is a book coach and works with self-publishing authors in fiction and memoir genres. I collaborated with Kirsten to design a memoir she has helped write. She’s amazing to work with!
  • Sydney Fletcher – Sydney is a life coach for entrepreneurs and helps them get through different blocks (whether that’s mindset, creative or down-to-earth business stuff). Although she’s not specifically in the publishing world, I find her approach and support beneficial for many writers who get stuck.
  • In Retrospect – Lilian is a PR coach and publicist working with authors and creative entrepreneurs. I’ve designed Lilian’s amazing PR guide, “The Powerful Publicity Prescription”, and I must admit – I’ve used her advice from the book myself!

Helpful self-publishing websites

  • Editors Canada – the website ofthe Editors’ Association of Canada has many great training resources, information on book editing and, of course, a directory of editors.
  • Evergreen Authors – lots of great marketing tips and courses for authors who need help boosting their sales and marketing book efforts.
  • 3 Penny Publishing – there are so many self-publishing resources on every self-publishing topic that it’s so easy to go down the rabbit hole quickly!
